LAKE TAHOE 2017

Summer days on Tahoe
As of February 3, 2017, Lake Tahoe is at an elevation of 6225.17. This is considered to be Full Pool. Which the easiest way to describe “Full Pool” is simply the volume of water in a reservoir at normal water surface. The reservoir level that needs to be attained when it can be fully utilized for all its purposes, including room for flood control.

This is important for a few reasons. First off, Lake Tahoe will be GREAT this summer. Secondly, Lake Tahoe this time last year was at an elevation of 6222.07, three feet lower and it peaked out at 6224.04 feet. Basically the lake level is over a foot higher than its peak last year, which was still a good year. The lake rose 2 feet from January to mid June with the meager snow pack we had last year.

We can only speculate how much more the lake level will rise from the record snow pack we currently have plus what else might come our way. Which brings us to my next point, the maximum legal limit for Tahoe, which is also deemed “Flood Pool” is four feet away at 6229.10 feet.

All this being said, the beaches will be much smaller, so the best way to enjoy Tahoe is on a boat! Be sure to visit your local LETSBOAT dealers and see how they can help get you on the water.
