Lake Shasta

Lake Shasta is a bucket list vacation spot as I deem it a baby Lake Powell with the multiple fingers that comprise the lake. Shasta is located in Redding, CA and made up from the Sacramento River Arm, the McCloud River Arm, Squaw Creek Arm and Pit River Arm. Each finger has a multitude of coves and smaller fingers to explore, camp, ski, fish or hang out in serenity. Shasta is an ideal lake for the houseboat trip, cabin rentals, stay in a nearby hotel or tent camp along the nearly 370 mile shoreline. Whether the lake is at capacity or down 60 feet, it is just as majestic and worth the trip. As the water levels change so does the shoreline and the views, so regardless it is worthwhile to visit. There are numerous full service marinas for gas and supplies, so plan your trip accordingly and invest in a good lake map.
